ABOUT STEPHAN

Stephen Van Der Merwe is on IT Professional and a seasoned long distance runner bassed out of Mohali. He hails from South Africa and came to India in 2007.

Stephan is a highly accomplished runner who knows the ins and outs of running various distance events, having run some blistering fast 10Ks to highly acclaimed Comrades Ultra Marathon in South Africa & Two Oceans in United States. Here are some of his podium finishes:

Mini-Comrades 15k in Kuruman (South Africa) around 1986 – 1st.

Big FM half marathon 2013 Above 35 category – 1st.

ISB Joyathon 10k 2014 – 1st overall

Hot Cider Hustle 2014 in Wheaton, California, 2nd for 40-45 years.

Dehradun half marathon 2016 – 2nd for above 45.

Patiala Marathon 2016 – 2nd in 45-50 category.

Mad-a-thon 2016 1st overall

Adidas uprising 10k 2016. 2nd overall

Running-and-living Shimla ultra half-marathon (25k) 2nd overall twice.

Running and living Town and country half marathon 2016 1st overall.

Daily World Marathon 2017 – 1st in 45-50 category.

Daudega Ajitgarh Mohali Half marathon 2017 – 1st for over 45 yrs.

Punjab Half marathon 2017 (first edition) – 1st for over 45 yrs.

Gurugram half marathon 2017 – 2nd overall

Shimla Tuffman Ultra 80k 2017 3rd overall.
